'Louis Fratino. Satura' at Centro Pecci

Centro per l’Arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci in Prato is pleased to present Louis Fratino. Satura, the first solo institutional exhibition dedicated to the work of the American artist Louis Fratino.

Curated by Centro Pecci Director Stefano Collicelli Cagol, Satura brings to the fore the pervasive entanglement between Fratino’s practice and Italy. The country, its culture, and its history have provided Fratino with a wide range of subjects, imaginations, and sensitivities: bridging relationships, affects, and landscapes, and leading ultimately to reflect upon his art. The works in Satura draw inspiration from twentieth-century Italian artists, such as Filippo De Pisis, Mario Mafai, Costantino Nivola, Felice Casorati, Carlo Carrà, Fausto Pirandello, and Guglielmo Janni; the immersive experience of Italy's landscapes and city environments; poems by Sandro Penna, Patrizia Cavalli and Pier Paolo Pasolini; and essays by the Italian gay activist Mario Mieli.

A monograph to accompany the exhibition will be published by Mousse. The works presented in this rich volume illustrate the profound connection between Fratino's practice and the country of Italy. These themes are further explored in essays by Stefano Collicelli Cagol, Giorgio Di Domenico, Filippo Bosco, Chiara Portesine, and Michele Bertolino.

Louis Fratino. Satura is on view at Centro Pecci from September 26, 2024 through February 2, 2025. To learn more, click here.
